This book came out of a decade of reading group activity in the organized study group "AG Kritische Wissenschaft." The essays explore practices of critical reading and writing, as well as notions of critique and criticality. Each essay departs from a close reading of a quote by philosophers, writers, and artists such as Hannah Arendt, Judith Butler, Roland Barthes, Hélène Cixous, Edward Said, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, or Virginia Woolf.
